Trump and Musk to speak from Oval Office as tech mogul ends time at White House

On Elon Musk's final day at the White House, he and US President Donald Trump have made joint comments in the Oval Office.

Musk headed the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), which aimed to cut government spending and jobs.

Trump says that the tech mogul "is not really leaving" and will be "back and forth" to the White House because DOGE is his "baby".

The mood was positive as Trump showered Musk with praise, saying he did a "fantastic job" and hailing DOGE's efforts as causing a "colossal change" in Washington.

Trump also handed Musk a large golden key – something he said he only gives to "special people".

The billionaire's tenure in government has been controversial.
