The police are reporting that they have made another major gun and ammunition find at Kingston Wharves.

Some 66 firearms, including 16 high-powered rifles, along with over 4,700 rounds of 9 millimetre ammunition were discovered on Monday in a container shipped from the United States.

The Firearms and Narcotics Investigation Division, operating under the Counter-Terrorism and Organised Crime Investigation Branch, spearheaded investigations into the illicit shipment.

Their swift and coordinated efforts led to the arrest of two suspects in relation to the massive gun and ammunition find at Newport West, Port Bustamante.

Dr. Anthony McLaughlin, head of C-TOC, said other people are being sought in relation to the latest find as investigations continue.

"There are a number of other persons who will be questioned in connection to this find. So the two persons who have been arrested, they will be interviewed and they will be charged in the coming days," he said, promising to give an update as soon as the charges are laid.

Dr. McLaughlin cautioned that anyone who attempts to ship illegal items into the country will be caught.

"So once again we are appealing to persons who want to use this road to ship firearms and other illegal things that we are tightening up on the borders. We are cooperating more with our international partners. So once you try to do this sort of thing, you are going to be caught and be charged," he warned.
