Two killed in 'terrorist' attack on UK synagogue

A deadly attack on a synagogue in Manchester, England has been declared a terrorist incident.

Two persons died in the car and stabbing attack, while four others are in hospital.

Police say the attacker was prevented from entering the Heaton Park synagogue by the bravery of security staff and worshippers who were observing Yom Kippur, the holiest day in the Jewish calendar.

Meanwhile, counter-terror officers say they believe they know the identity of the suspect, who was fatally shot.

Two other persons have been arrested.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer said Britain must defeat rising antisemitic hate, noting that extra police were deployed at synagogues across the country.

Directly addressing the UK's Jewish community, he promised to do everything in his power to give "the security you deserve".
