Two men charged by Lottery Scamming Task Force

Two St James men were on Monday charged by the Lottery Scamming Task Force following operations in the parish.

Roxroy Baachas, 29, a customer service supervisor of Mountain View Lane, Westgate Hills and 21 year old Jevar Maxwell, a special service agent of Over River, have been charged for possession of identity information. Mr Maxwell is also facing the charge of possession of access device.

It's alleged that Mr Baachas used his position at a call centre to make adjustments to billing on customer accounts.

Investigators also found several files with identity information of people residing overseas during an onsite analysis of his cellular phone.

Mr Maxwell was charged after being handed over to the Lottery Scamming Task Force by members of the Jamaica Customs Agency Contraband Enforcement Team, who arrested him at Sangster International Airport.

He reportedly aroused the suspicion of a team at the airport when he was observed making several withdrawals at an ATM over a three-day period.

During a search of his person, law enforcement officers allegedly found five debit cards labelled with identity information of overseas residents.

They also analysed Mr Maxwell's cellular phone and reportedly found banking information of people residing overseas.
