Two men were fatally shot by police on Thursday in what the Jamaica Constabulary Force says were separate but connected operations in St. Catherine.
The operations are said to be linked to Sunday's mass shooting in Commodore, Linstead which left five dead and four wounded.
In the first incident, which occurred shortly after 5 a.m., a joint police-military team conducted an intelligence-led operation at Jewels Estate, Knollis, Bog Walk.
When the team entered the premises, it was reportedly confronted by a man armed with a rifle who pointed the weapon in the direction of the officers.
The lawmen opened fire, and the man was later pronounced dead.
An M16 rifle along with a magazine and ammunition were seized.
Later, in a connected operation, a police team intercepted a vehicle in which several men were travelling along Grange Lane in Portmore.
The police say the occupants opened fire, which was returned.
When the shooting subsided, one man was found suffering from gunshot wounds.
He was taken to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
A pistol was reportedly taken from him.
The police say both incidents have been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
