US President Joe Biden
In his first speech since Donald Trump's election win, US President Joe Biden says the Democratic Party has accepted the country's decision to elect Donald Trump to sit in the oval office.
Addressing the nation from the White House on Thursday morning, President Biden paid tribute to his vice-president, saying Kamala Harris ran an inspiring campaign.
He added that for some people it's a time for victory and for others a time of loss, but said "You can't love your country only when you win. You can't love your neighbour only when you agree."
The president also called for questions about the integrity of the American electoral system to be put to rest, adding that it is honest, fair, and it is transparent.
His address comes a day after Ms. Harris gave her concession speech and promised to keep up the fight that fuelled her campaign.
Meanwhile, as Mr. Trump is preparing his next steps, CNN reports that the special counsel was in talks with the Department of Justice about winding down the federal cases against him.
