US removes tariffs on UK steel and aluminium, and cuts car rate to 10%

Donald Trump has removed the 25% tariff on UK steel and aluminium and reduced car export tariffs from 27.5% to 10% for up to 100,000 US vehicles annually.

In return, the UK will drop its tariff on US ethanol and allow greater access to US beef.

UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer praised the deal as fantastic and historic while Trump framed it as a major trade victory.

But UK goods still face a 10% US tariff and UK Conservative leader criticised the deal saying the UK has been shafted.
