US sends 10 more deportees to Eswatini

Ten more third-country nationals have been deported to Eswatini despite an original legal challenge to block the action by human rights advocates in the southern African country.

Their identities have not been made public.

This is the second batch of deportees sent by the United States as part of the country's hardline immigration crackdown.

The group of 10 arrived in the country early Monday despite the government in a statement Sunday detailing that it was expecting 11.

In July, right's group, the Southern Africa Litigation Centre, mounted the legal challenge after five men, including a Jamaican, was deported to Eswatini, formerly Swaziland.

The Jamaican, Orville Etoria, has been repatriated, and the Eswatini government says two others are expected to be repatriated soon.

The remaining four are from Cuba, Vietnam, Yemen, and Laos.
