UTech academic staff, gov't yet to reach settlement

Lebert Langley, President of the UTech Academic Staff Union (UTASU)

Academic employees of the University of Technology (UTech) and the government are yet to reach a settlement on the payment of retroactive salaries.

The government has offered to pay some of the money.

The employees on Friday gathered to discuss the government's offer.

Lebert Langley, President of the UTech Academic Staff Union (UTASU) said further discussions will be held over the weekend "that would allow a reworking and a representation of the proposal to the academic staff so that it is more palatable than it is presently."

The UTech employees have been on strike since last week.
