As the industrial action involving lecturers and the administration of the University of Technology (UTECH) enters day two, the management of the institution has been forced to suspend some classes.
Hector Wheeler, UTECH’s Director of Advancement, says as a result of the action by the lecturers, Tuesday’s classes in the School of Business Administration, School of Hospitality and Tourism Management were suspended.
A decision was also made to suspend classes at the Joan Duncan School of Entrepreneurship, Ethics and Leadership in the College of Business and Management.
Mr. Wheeler says classes are being held as scheduled in all other colleges and faculties except for Academic Writing and Communication courses of study delivered by the Faculty of Education and Liberal Studies.
The UTECH spokesman says following Tuesday's meeting with officials from the Ministry of Labour and UTECH's management, the university will outline plans for the resumption of all classes.
