Vendors attached to the Constant Spring Market in St. Andrew were left fuming after turning up to padlocked gates on Wednesday.
The vendors turned up to the market expecting to benefit from the anticipated increase in sales during the Christmas season.
The vendors say they were advised by the security guard on duty that there would be no access to the property.
"The security tell me that the gate is closed, the market is closed, and who in there is going to come out of the market. So there's no business going on," said Nerissa, a vendor at the facility.
In response, Chief Executive Officer of the Kingston and St. Andrew Municipal Corporation, Robert Hill, said the vendors will be allowed access to the market on Thursday.
"Based on an appeal that was made by the vendors at the Constant Spring Arcade, and based on our assessment, we have agreed with the vendors to grant them use of the arcade space to ply their wares for Boxing Day, December 26, 2024," Mr. Hill announced.
