Virgin Atlantic expanding nonstop service between London Heathrow and Montego Bay

Delano Seiveright, State Minister in the Tourism Ministry

The Ministry of Tourism says British airline Virgin Atlantic will expand its nonstop service between London Heathrow and Montego Bay to a daily schedule beginning January next year.

Minister of State in the Minister of Tourism, Senator Delano Seiveright, says this is due to sustained high demand for travel from the United Kingdom to Jamaica.

Senator Seiveright says the expanded service is welcomed news for Jamaica's tourism sector.

"Now, this is a big win for Jamaica and is a direct result of the ministry's aggressive and well-structured airlift growth and diversification strategy. More flights mean more convenient access to Jamaica from the United Kingdom and beyond because we have a lot of people coming through Europe, coming from the Middle East and so on. And that translates to more money flowing into our economy, more jobs created and more opportunities for Jamaicans far and wide - from our hotel workers, to tour operators, to our farmers, our artisans, our entrepreneurs.

"The flights are being operated by a Boeing 787 Dreamliner and they have flexible departure and return times making travel even more seamless for visitors who are connecting through the United Kingdom into Jamaica. So it's very good news all around," he touted.

Mr. Seiveright said this increased connectivity through the United Kingdom is expected to significantly increase visitor arrivals and tourism earnings going into the 2026 season.
