A suspect who was being sought by the Westmoreland Police for murders and shootings is now in custody.
The suspect reportedly surrendered to the police on the weekend.
He has since been charged with murder and shooting at the police.
Radio Jamaica News was informed that the suspect was the main target of a police operation in Seaford Town, which led to the controversial shooting death of 34-year-old Jordan Smith, a farmer of Seaford Town.
The police had reported that they went to Mr. Smith's house in search of a murder suspect when they were confronted by men with firearms.
The police say there was an exchange of gunfire during which Smith was killed.
The other men, including the prime suspect, escaped.
A firearm was reportedly seized.
Residents staged two days of fiery protest over the killing of Smith.
