The Ministry of Youth and Culture has broken its silence on the whereabouts of Minister of Youth and Culture, Lisa Hanna.
Adviser and Consultant in the Ministry, Huntley Medley says the clarification comes against the background of repeated attempts by journalists to reach Minister Hanna.
Miss Hanna who's also the member of Parliament for South East St. Ann came under fire from some of her constituents on the weekend over poor road conditions.
The roadway in question is the Hinds Town Road in Beecher Town. The Constituents supported by People's National Party Councillor for the Beecher Town Division staged a protest Saturday at her Claremont office.
Mr. Beecher argued that Miss Hanna has failed to respond to pleas for assistance.
Mr. Medley revealed that says Miss Hanna is out of office on urgent personal business related to medical attention which her mother is receiving.
Miss Hanna is scheduled to return to office on Thursday.
In the meantime it seems as if the protest by the Constituents has triggered some action.
A statement from Constituency Secretary Ezekiel Russell says following representation made earlier this year by Miss Hanna, an estimate totaling $4.2 Million dollars has been compiled for repairs to the damaged roadway.
In July this year Miss Hanna submitted the road for major repairs as an infrastructure project under Phase 2 of the Jamaica Emergency Employment Programme (JEEP).
It has been ascertained that the Hinds Town Road and other JEEP projects submitted by MP Hanna have been approved for implementation.
The statement added that the project document has since been sent to the National Works Agency (NWA) for evaluation.
Responsibility for the maintenance of the Hinds Town Road is shared by the NWA and the St.Ann Parish Council.
