A woman who suffered serious burns to her body following a suspected arson attack at the Black River Market in St. Elizabeth on Ash Wednesday has died.
She is 47-year-old Donna Ledgister, of 4 Crane Road in Black River.
Ms. Ledgister, who had sustained burns to 80 per cent of her body during the March 5 incident, was receiving care at Black River Hospital before she died on Wednesday.
A man, who received burns to his hand and foot, was treated and released on the same day.
It was reported that Ms. Ledgister and the man were asleep in the market about 2 a.m., when they were set ablaze by unknown persons.
Firefighters stationed next door the market responded to the blaze.
A bottle with a chemical substance was reportedly found at the scene.
