Antigua & Barbuda's prime minister, Gaston Browne, has written to three regional and international organizations requesting representatives to observe the upcoming general election.
Prime Minister Browne is expected to announce the date during a mass rally on Monday.
Prime Minister Browne requested observers from the Guyana-based CARICOM Secretariat, the Organization of American States and the London-based Commonwealth Secretariat
Mr Browne, who is seeking a fourth consecutive term as prime minister, said the Antigua & Barbuda government will provide all customary facilities and courtesies accorded to previous Electoral Observer Missions.
The election is expected to be a straight contest between the governing Antigua & Barbuda Labour Party and the main opposition United Progressive Party.
The Democratic National Alliance has already announced that it will not be fielding candidates in the elections.
In the last parliamentary general election on January 18, 2023, the incumbent ABLP won nine of the 17 seats with the others going to the UPP and a lone independent candidate.
