Police officer among 5 killed in Port of Spain

Trinidad's National Security Minister, Fitzgerald Hinds has questioned whether residents of an east Port of Spain area will go back to life and business as normal following the killing of five people, including a senior police officer last weekend.

He said the area is dominated by gangs which the police have had limited success in eradicating.

Mr Hinds said the situation requires a collective response from the people.

Prime Minister Dr. Keith Rowley in a Facebook post said the latest outrage brings home the depth of the problem that the Government is grappling with.
