St Vincent lawyer criticizes Court of Appeal delay in public sector vaccine dismissal case

The St Vincent lawyer representing public sector workers who were dismissed more than two years ago for failing to take a CoVID-19 vaccine has decried the delay by the Court of Appeal in handing down its decision in the matter.

The Court of Appeal heard arguments in the case on May 2 this year but has not indicated that it is ready to give its decision.

Hundreds of public sector workers, including teachers, nurses, police officers, and customs workers, were dismissed under the mandate that the Ralph Gonsalves administration brought into effect in 2021.

The mandate demanded that workers get vaccinated or be deemed to have abandoned their jobs and their accumulated benefits.
