Venezuelan among three detained for smuggling marijuana in Trinidad

A Venezuelan national is among three men detained by law enforcement authorities after a vessel was intercepted in the Gulf of Paria with marijuana worth more than TTD$14 million on Tuesday.
 
According to the police, a Customs and Excise vessel was on patrol when the officers observed a fishing vessel with three men on board who were acting in a suspicious manner.
 
An extensive search of the vessel was carried out. 295 packages containing marijuana were found.
 
The drug weighed 158.54 kilograms.
 
Meanwhile, the police say four Venezuelan women who are alleged to have entered the country illegally, have been fined by a San Fernando Magistrate.
