Atomica romps Menudo Trophy race

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

Reigning Horse of the year Atomica recorded her fourth consecutive victory of the year after easily brushing aside the small line-up in Saturday's feature event at Caymanas Park, the third running of the Menudo Trophy, a Graded Stakes and Open Allowance event over 10 furlongs.

She was ridden to victory by champion jockey Dane Dawkins for trainer Gary Subratie. The 4 year old chestnut filly covered the distance in 2:08.2 to win by 4 lengths.

Leading jockey Reyan Lewis recorded a double to move his overall tally to 84 wins, 17 clear of reigning champion Dane Dawkins in the race for the jockey's championship.

Racing continues on Sunday with a 10-race card starting at 11:45 am.
