Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The 2-1 second choice California Crown under jockey Robert Halledeen for champion trainer Jason DaCosta, made all the running to land the Kaz Hoshay Trophy for Overnight Allowance runners over 5 and a half furlongs, the feature event on the 10 race card at Caymanas Park.

The 4 year old chestnut colt who won last year's 2000 Guineas, was actually down in class for this assignment. The 4 year old chestnut colt covered the distance in a minute, 07.4 seconds, winning by a length and a quarter.

Meanwhile, trainer Lawrence Freemantle achieved career win number 300 at Caymanas Park when his 6 year old chestnut horse Phoenix Risen landed race number 6 over 4 furlongs straight with inform apprentice Demar Williams astride the 8-5 second choice.

Apprentice Richie Shakes and trainer Barrington Bernard combined for a double, while champion apprentice designate Demar Williams also recorded a double. Racing continues next Saturday with a 12 race card featuring the 4th running of the US $300,000 Mouttet Mile.
