Cole impressive on opening day of Carifta Trials

World Under-20 silver medallist Serena Cole was the fastest qualifier among the Under-20 girls in the 100 metres, clocking 11.22 seconds to win her heat on Friday’s opening day of the Carifta trials and advance to Saturday's final.

Alana Reid of Hydel returned a wind-assisted 11.24 seconds to win her heat. Natrece East of Wolmer’s Girls was the fastest qualifier among the Under-17 girls after speeding to a slightly wind- aided 11. 70 seconds to advance to the final.

Tremaine Todd of STETHS with 10.59 seconds, was the fastest qualifier for the final of the Under 17  boys final.15-year-old Michael Neil of Jonathan Grant High won the boys Under-17 high jump with 1.88 metres.

Dionjah Shaw of Edwin Allen registered a mark 13.83 metres to win the Under-17 girls shot put, while Excelsior's Trevisha Parchment ended second with 12.82 metres.
