Desert of Malibu romps None Such Sprint Trophy

Report by RJRGLEANER Group Sports Reporter Spencer Darlington

The 3-5 favourite Desert of Malibu returned from a five month break to record a gate to wire victory in Saturday's feature event, the None Such Sprint Trophy event, a Graded Stakes and Open Allowance contest over 6 furlongs at Caymanas Park.

She was ridden to victory by title-chasing jockey Raddesh Roman for trainer Gary Subratie. The 5 year old chestnut mare covered the distance in a nippy 1:10.1, prevailing by 8 and a quarter lengths.

Meanwhile, Tevin Foster increased his lead over Raddesh Roman in the race for the jockeys' championship to 7 wins after landing a 4-timer.

This takes Foster's tally for the season to 96 wins, with Roman on 89 following his double on the day. Racing continues on Sunday with a 9 race card starting at noon.
