Chairman of the JAAA Medical Commission, Dr Warren Blake, has strongly condemned the concept of the Enhanced Games, saying no medical safeguards can protect athletes from the long term damage caused by performance-enhancing drugs.
The controversial event, set to debut in 2026, will allow competitors to use banned substances under medical supervision, a move organizers claim will ensure safety and fairness.
However, Dr Blake, who also previously served on World Athletics Medical Commission, says the risks far outweigh any supposed benefits. He was speaking on Wednesday's edition of Beyond The Headlines on Radio Jamaica.
