Foundations launched for retired race horses and needy horsemen and women

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Denise Walters

With the issue of some race horses being turned away from Caymanas Park after retirement coming to the fore in recent times, a foundation was launched on Monday night, at Up Park Camp to assist with the care of these animals.

Horsemen and women who have fallen on hard times, will also get assistance through another foundation that was also launched.

The racehorse foundation for aftercare programme was founded by 4-time former champion jockey Charles Hussey, while the Jamaica Thoroughbred Horsemen Foundation is chaired by Charmaine Subratie.
