4-time national champion Samantha Hall has created history after making it through to the final of the women's discus on day 1 of the 20th World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Hall's throw of 63.32m landed her in 8th in the qualification round. She became the first Jamaican woman to advance to the final of this event at a World Championships.
Meanwhile, Jamaica failed to make it to the final of the mixed 4x400m relay after placing 8th heat 1. The team of Jevaughn Powell, Dejenea Oakley, Zandrian Barnes and Leah Anderson clocked 3 minutes, 13.96 seconds.
The heat was won by the United States in 3:10.18.
