Hetmyer receives visa belatedly to travel to India to join Windies T20WC squad

Guyanese batsman Shimron Hetmyer is not yet in India with the West Indies squad for the ICC T20 World Cup which starts on Saturday. It’s understood Hetmyer was left stranded in South Africa after the Caribbean side's 3-match T20 International series, as he did not possess the requisite visa to travel to India.

Further checks by Radio Jamaica Sports have revealed that Hetmyer has since received the requisite travel document and is now expected to join up with the Windies squad before their opening game against Scotland on Saturday at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

Hetmyer had won the Man of the Match award in the West Indies 6 run victory over South Africa in the third T20 International last Saturday in Johannesburg.

He smashed an unbeaten 48 off 22 balls to help West Indies post 114-7 in the encounter which was  reduced to 10 overs per side because of poor weather conditions.
