India crush West Indies inside three days of opening test

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Renardo Brown

The West Indies two decade wait for a test victory against India continues, as they suffered an innings and 140 run defeat to the home team inside three days of the opening test in Ahmedabad on Saturday.

The West Indies have now gone 26 test matches without a win against India. After reaching 448-5 at stumps on day two the Indians decided that a lead of 286 runs was enough to see the Windies bat a second time as they declared their innings overnight.

The West Indies were then bowled out for 146, as only Alick Athanaze 38 and Justin Greaves 25, offered any resistance. Ravindra Jadeja returned to claim 4-54, while Mohammed Siraj picked up 3-31.
