JADCO to test Champ’s athletes

Official drug testing may be conducted at Boys' and Girls' Track and Field Championships next year.

But any decision to do so must be sanctioned by the Jamaica Anti-Doping Commission, JADCO, who say they have up to 10 junior athletes on their testing list.

The lowest age eligible for testing in Jamaica as well as internationally is age 15.

But JADCO executive Dr. Patrece Charles Freeman does not rule out, testing athletes at Champs.

“Boys and Girls Champs is like a feeder into the World Championships. One of the reasons we did not test at Boys and Girls Champs is because we anticipated testing at the Junior National trials. Will I test at next year’s Boys and Girls Champs? I am going to have to look at the situation, look at our budget,” she said.

It costs between US$200 and US$350 per test.
