Jamaica's Under-21 team is out of contention for a place in the medal round at the Netball Youth World Cup in Gibraltar following their 85-33 loss to Australia in the quarter-final round on Thursday.

The Jamaicans scored the first two goals of the game but trailed for the remainder of the contest, as the Australians rushed into a 21-9 lead at the end of the first quarter.

The young Aussies continued to pile on the pressure and increased their advantage to lead 40-15 at the halftime break.

It then became 41 goal lead at the end of the third quarter, with Australia out front 64-23.

They continued their dominance in the fourth and final quarter by outscoring Jamaica 21-10 to win the contest by a hefty 52 goal margin.

The young Sunshine Girls who had also lost their final pool game against England on Wednesday, will meet the Cook Islands on Friday starting at 11:00 am Jamaica time.
