Jamaican triple jumper Sabina Allen, formerly of Vere Technical and Campbell University in North Carolina, has been slapped with a four year ban.
Her sanction comes as a result of information from the first case to be prosecuted under a new law designed to criminalize widespread doping conspiracies.
The retroactive ban to June 24, 2021 for 27-year-old Allen, who now lives in Georgia, was announced by the US Anti-Doping Agency on Thursday.
Allen tested positive for two prohibited substances after finishing first at a low-level event in California last May.
Evidence for the case came from a criminal case against Eric Lira, a natureropathic doctor from El Paso, Texas.
In January, federal prosecutors charged lira with providing performance-enhancing drugs to athletes including Nigerian Olympic medallist Blessing Okagbare.
