Kemba Nelson heads to Paris for 4x100m relay

TVJ Sports understands that sprinter Kemba Nelson is en route to Paris as cover for the women's 4x100m relay.

Nelson, who was listed as an AP alternate athlete, was understood to have been in Madrid, Spain where the Elite track club team had been based prior to the games.

Nelson ran the lead off leg on Jamaica's silver medal winning 4x100m relay team at the World Championships in Eugene Oregon in 2022.

The latest development comes just days after veteran coach Stephen Francis chided the Jamaica Olympic Association (JOA) for not making arrangements for alternate athletes to be accommodated in Paris.

Shashalee Forbes, Tia Clayton and Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce are automatically entered in the relay pool by virtue of being entered in the individual 100m.

Alana Reid is listed as reserve.
