National champions Bryan Levell and Megan Tapper are among the few remaining Jamaican athletes yet to join the team's pre World Championships training camp in Tottori, Japan. Levell is down to contest the men's 200 metres along with Christopher Taylor and Adrian Kerr.
Although not officially included on the men's sprint relay pool, it’s anticipated that Levell who is the second fastest Jamaican man this season over 100 metres at 9.82 seconds, will still be included.
However, Radio Jamaica Sports understands Levell could face omission from the sprint relay team, as he’s yet to practice with the squad and has not competed with the team so far this season.
Tapper, a bronze medallist from the Tokyo Olympics, is also yet to arrive in the camp along with 2-time World Championships bronze medallist Rushell Clayton.
National 800 metre record holder Tyrice Taylor and long jumper Nikolai Williams are also yet to arrive for the camp with 4 days to go before its completion.
The Jamaican team is scheduled to move into the Athletes’ Village on September 10 in Tokyo. The Tokyo World Athletics Championships will run from September 13-21 and can be seen live and exclusively on TVJ, TVJ SN and 1spotmedia.com, with radio coverage on Hitz 92 FM. Our coverage starts on September 12.
