Louis to make test debut for Windies vs England

The West Indies have named top order batter Mikyle Louis in their playing eleven to take on England in the opening test of three at Lord’s starting Wednesday morning Jamaica time. The largely inexperienced Windies squad will field only three players who have played at Lord’s before.

Captain Kraigg Brathwaite who is expected to set the tone for the Windies, believes that despite the inexperience in the squad, there is enough talent to be competitive.

Conditions in England will be testing for the Windies batters as four of the top five have never even played a test against the opposition home or away.

The playing X1 for the West Indies reads: Kraigg Brathwaite, Mikyle Louis, Kirk McKenzie, Alick Athanaze, Kavem Hodge, Jason Holder, Joshua Da Silva, Alzarri Joseph, Gudakesh Motie, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seals.

England in the meantime have named two debutants for Wednesday's game in the form of pace bowler Gus Atkinson and wicketkeeper Jamie Smith. The game bowls off at 5:00 am Jamaica time.
