Jamaica did not increase its medal tally from the one gold and two silver on day three of competition at the World Athletics Championship in Tokyo, despite representation in the women's sprint hurdles. Defending champion Danielle Williams finished 7th in the women’s 100m hurdles final in 12.53 seconds.

Switzerland’s Ditaji Kambunji won the gold in a national record 12.24 seconds over Tobi Amusan 12.29 and Grace Stark 12.34 seconds.

Meanwhile, national champion Orlando Bennett, Tyler Mason and Demario Prince advanced to the semi-finals of the men’s 110m hurdles.

Tajay Gayle and Nicolai Williams made progress to the men’s long jump final, but compatriot and national champion Carey McLeod was eliminated.

Malik James King and Roshawn Clarke moved into the semi-finals of the men’s 400m hurdles, while fellow Jamaican Assinie Wilson did not advance.
