TG’s Boyd 2010 DPL season MVP

The 2011 Digicel Premier League (DPL) season was launched on Thursday at the Jamaica Football Federation headquarters in Kingston.

Awards for last season were presented at the 2011 campaign launch and Navian body, Tivoli Gardens’ striker, was named last season’s Most Valuable Player (MVP).

The presentation ceremony was postponed last season due to the limited State of Emergency following the unrest in West Kingston.

Boyd received the most votes from the 12 clubs, who also named individual MVPs for the season.

Along with the award, body walked away with a cash prize of $100,000.

Boyd looking to reclaim DPL title

He rattled in 14 goals last DPL season as Tivoli surrendered the title to Harbour View by 11 points.

The national representative says he has no goal target this season but he is ready to help Tivoli reclaim the DPL title.

“I just want to see how much I will do at the end of the season. I just want to take all the chances we get and try to take it away form Harbour View,” he said.

The DPL is in its third and final year of a $150 million sponsor from telecommunications company Digicel and Clyde Jureidine, Secretary of the Premier League Club Association, says they are now in discussions with potentials that will be disclosed in coming weeks.

Harbour View collected $2.5 million for winning the 2010 DPL season while Tivoli got $1.5 for being the runner up.
