Jamaica's coach Winfried Schaefer has decided to go in with the same eleven which started their last game against Mexico for Monday night's final group game against Uruguay at the Copa America Centenario in the United States.
Goalkeeper Andre Blake will be backed up by Wes Mogan, captain Adrian Mariappa, Jermaine Taylor and Jevaughn Watson in defence with Lee Williamson, Michael Hector, Jobi McAnuff, Garath McLeary and Giles Barnes in midfield with Clayton Donaldson upfront.
Only pride will be at stake for Monday's contest as both teams are out of contention for a place in the quarter finals, but Jamaica’s captain Adrian Mariappa says they are taking it seriously.
The Reggae Boyz are yet to open their scoring account in the history of the tournament, having suffered five defeats in as many games, dating back to last year.
The game offers the Reggae Boyz a chance for revenge, having lost 1-0 to Uruguay in Chile last year and Mariappa says they will be looking to make a statement despite being eliminated.
“Although we can’t go further, it’s a very important game in a very important competition so we are still going in to try and win the game and also use it as preparation for the games coming up in September (World Cup qualifiers) which obviously are crucial to us as well, so definitely looking forward to the Uruguay game,” said Mariappa.
The Reggae Boyz have so far suffered 1-0 and 2-0 losses to Venezuela and Mexico respectively at this year’s Copa America.
