West Indians draw warm-up game before first test against England

The West Indians' warm-up match against a County Select X1 ended in a draw on Friday's rain-affected third and final day at the Kent County Ground.

The entire morning session was lost to rain.  

When play eventually got underway, the West Indians posted 196-5 declared in their second innings after resuming on 57-2.

Alick Athanaze was left unbeaten on 66 after resuming on nought, while Joshua da Silva made 51 not out. Sonny Baker took 2-49 for the county X1.

Set 163 to win in the post tea session, the County Select X1 reached 30-2 in their second innings when the game was declared a draw.

Scores in the match: the West Indians 339 and 195-6 declared; the County Select X1 373-4 declared and 30-2.

Former captain and batting consultant, Jimmy Adams was pleased with the output of the players in what is the only warm-up before the series. The first of three tests bowls off on Wednesday at Lord's.
