Windies assistant coach sees improvement in team's 50 over performances

Report by RJRGLEANER Communications Group Sports Reporter Renardo Brown

West Indies assistant coach Floyd Reifer says the team has improved since missing out on the last 50 over World Cup in 2023.

The West Indies are looking to secure their place at the next showpiece which is scheduled to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in October and November 2027.

Hosts South Africa and Zimbabwe will qualify automatically for the tournament, along with the top eight teams in the ICC ODI  rankings as of March 31, 2027. The remaining four places will be decided through qualifying tournaments. As it stands now, the 9th ranked West Indies occupy the last automatic spot with Bangladesh 3 rating points behind.
