Trinidadian Amir Jangoo scored a century on his One Day International (ODI) debut, as the West Indies completed the sweep, defeating Bangladesh by 4 wickets in the third and final game in St Kitts on Thursday.
Soumya Sakar and captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz would lead a massive recovery for the Bangladeshis from 31-3, sharing in a 136 run third wicket partnership.
Miraz went for 77 and Sakar 73. Bangladesh suffered another wobble at 171-5, but Mahmudullah and Jaker Ali staged another rescue act, sharing in an unbeaten 150 run 6th wicket partnership.
Mahmudullah ended unbeaten on 82, while Ali made 62 not out, as Bangladesh posted 321-5. Alzarri Joseph led the West Indies bowling with 2-43.
In reply, the West Indies found themselves in trouble at 31-3 inside 5 overs. Keacy Carty cracked 10 fours and 2 sixes, while making 95 in a 132 run 5th wicket partnership with Player of the Match Jangoo who ended unbeaten on 104, inclusive of 4 sixes and 6 fours.
Player of the Series Sherfane Rutherford weighed in with 30, while Gudakesh Motie made 44 against Rishad Hossain 2-69.
Jangoo and Motie shared an unbeaten 91 run 7th wicket partnership to take the West Indies across the line at 325-6 in 45.5 overs to secure the series sweep. It’s also the fourth time that the West Indies successfully chased a 300-plus target in ODIs.
The teams will now turn their attention to the 3-match T20 series to be played in St Vincent starting on December 15.
