Windies U19 suffer narrow loss to Sri Lanka

The West Indies picked up 4 late wickets for 27 runs but Sri Lanka held on for a 1 wicket win in their second youth One Day International at the Coolidge Cricket Ground in Antigua on Tuesday.

Captain Joshua Dorne scored led the way with 82 as the West Indies Under-19s batting first got bowled out for 201.

Brendan Boodoo 28 and Jonathan van Lange 26 also chipped-in against Vigneshwaran Akash 3-30.

In their turn at the crease Sri Lanka Under-19s were in full control at 170-5 before losing 4 wickets for 27 runs to set-up a close finish. The visitors eventually got to victory at 204-9.

Vimath Dinsara top scored with 45, while Chamika Heenati Gala got 30. Zachary Carter took 3-42, while Boodoo returned to take 2-27.

Sri Lanka leads the 7-match series 2-0. The tournament serves as key preparation for the 2026 ICC Men's Under-19 World Cup in Zimbabwe and Namibia.
