Bahamas to start national financial literacy campaign

The Bahamas Government plans to improve financial literacy among its nationals.

Minister of Tourism, Investments and Aviation Chester Cooper will lead a national financial literacy campaign to encourage saving and investing.

However, Mr. Cooper added that local and foreign investment in the country is the fastest way to grow the economy.

A Financial Literacy Survey conducted by the Bahamas central bank in 2018 showed less than 30 per cent of Bahamians contribute to a pension plan and less than eight per cent invest in marketable securities.
