Barbados Finance Minister supports call for CET to protect regional producers from external markets

Ryan Straughn, Finance Minister of Barbados, is supporting a call by JMEA Executive Director Kamesha Turner Blake for CARICOM governments to use the 35 per cent Common External Tariff regime to protect regional producers from the free flow of goods from external markets.
 
He adds that this must be done to protect domestic and regional businesses in order to ensure food and job security.
