IMF downgrades growth forecast for Latin America, Caribbean

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) says the economic growth in Latin America and the Caribbean is projected to moderate from 2.4% in 2024 to 2% this year before rebounding to 2.4% in 2026.

The IMF has released its World Economic Outlook forecast, revising downward by 0.5 percentage points for 2025 and 0.3 percentage points in 2026 compared with those in the January 2025 outlook.

The figures were released in Washington during the IMF's spring meetings taking place through Friday against the backdrop of the trade tariffs announced by US President Donald Trump in February and expanded in April.
