LIME prepares to cut call rates

Telecommunications firm LIME is ready to cut rates further in light of expectations, that the Office of Utilities Regulation (OUR) will make a determination to reduce the interconnection rates later this month.

Interconnection rates between cell phone providers were cut significantly last year. The rates were set at an interim level of J$5 per minute, while the OUR decides on final rates

The OUR is expected to give its determination on final rates to calls across networks this month. Garry Sinclair – President and CEO of LIME, believes that rates will be even lower.

Concerning a Cable TV offering from LIME  - he said the launch will take place this year. LIME launched its subscriber TV service in the Cayman Islands two weeks ago and so far, sales have exceeded all targets for the period. Sinclar aims to have the same result in Jamaica, when the service is launched.
