Service stations to stop accepting credit cards

Gas station operators are reportedly going ahead with plans to stop accepting credit cards from customers for the payment of fuel purchases.

The Jamaica Gasoline Retailers Association, JGRA  has recommended that as of next week  service stations discontinue accepting Mastercard and Visa credit cards.

The Association says this is due to the high processing fees being charged by financial institutions.

Immediate Past President of  the JGRA, Trevor Heaven, says service stations will only accept debit cards in settling fuel transactions
