Some commercial banks request more time to meet minimum standards for ATMs.

Some commercial banks have requested an extension of the deadline established by the central bank for them to comply with minimum standards for ATMs.

This was revealed by Dr Jide Lewis, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Jamaica, at the central bank's recent quarterly media briefing.

Dr. Lewis said the call for an extension was due to the negative effects of Hurricane Beryl and the subsequent power outages on the operations of the banks.

He said the BOJ will continue working with commercial banks as they strive to meet the required standards for ATMs.
