Another monkeypox case confirmed, pushing total to 19

The Ministry of Health is reporting that another locally transmitted monkeypox case has been confirmed in Jamaica.
 
A total of 19 cases of the viral disease have so far been confirmed in the country up to March 19.
 
Seventeen of the cases are locally transmitted while two are imported.
 
The latest case was recorded in St. Catherine.
 
More COVID-19 deaths 
 
In its weekly update for the period March 14 to 20, the Health Ministry confirmed seven more deaths - two of which occurred since the start of 2023.
 
The country's overall COVID-19 death toll is 3,528.
 
The ministry said 67 cases were confirmed from March 14 to 20.
 
The seven-day average positivity rate stood at 7.2 per cent.
