Bermuda police seize US$1.3m worth of drugs in latest bust

By Prince Moore

Bermuda police have seized almost US$9 million in illegal drugs since March, with the latest seizure taking place on Monday.

The police say six people were arrested following the latest seizure of US$1.3 million in drugs in the British overseas territory.

Five men and one woman had been detained following the operation at a home in Smith's parish.

The police said the latest seizure put the estimated value of drugs seized or intercepted by law enforcement agencies this year at US$8.8 million.

The authorities said the figure is expected to increase as a number of other operations have been announced by the Bermuda Police Service.
