Brothers shot dead in Westmoreland

A relative of the brothers killed in Petersfield, Westmoreland

Two brothers were shot and killed in the community of Carawina in Petersfield, Westmoreland on Tuesday morning.

Residents said they heard explosions shortly after midnight. Five hours later, the bodies of 43-year-old Dervin Jones and 41-year-old Sheldon Jones were found.

The brothers have been described as hard working men who were never involved in crime.

They were said to be heading home after a night of drinking with friends when they were attacked.

A family member lamented that the older brother, Dervin, only returned to Jamaica two weeks ago after being away in the Cayman Islands for three years.

Today was his birthday.

The family member who spoke with Radio Jamaica News believes the killing of the brothers was due to a case of mistaken identity.
